WOOT!
Okay, I'm upgrading my PC faster.
I probably won't be buying a PC version however, if I get a new computer (All my games run on the laptop) I may get it but I'm not sure right now. All my computers/laptops are too crap to run this game probably.
If the controlls are difficult, I don't recommend you to play in a laptop.

I just attached a new keyboard onto the Lappy, controls are no problem for me and besides Laptop keyboards are usually smaller than the normal ones that you buy at shops. I am used to smaller keyboards with small keys.
Just buy an adapter for your old PS2 controller. PS2 controllers are the best for playing GTA games on the PC. Been using it to play them since GTA3
PC parts manufacturers are gonna love this news though. Think of all the people who must be upgrading their computers now. Everyone wanting Vista and a new graphics card so they can see the benefits of DX10. Everyone getting more RAM.
Glad I upgraded last year, will almost certainly pay off. 2.4GHz Core2Duo, 4GB RAM, 8800GTS 320MB, I can't wait for this. Will be pre-ordering as soon as it's available online somewhere
*ejaculates*
So... so happy right now ....
My birthday is on the 2nd (November) so I'm getting a new PC for mine.
CASE: Sigma Gaming Orca Case
CPU: (Socket AM2) AMD Athlon™ X2 6400+ Dual-Core CPU w/ HyperTransport Technology
RAM: Corsair 2GB (2x1GB)
GFX: NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT 512MB 16X PCI Express
Hard Drive: 320GB SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 16MB Cache 7200RPM HDD
Optical Drive: SONY DUAL FORMAT 20X DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW DRIVE DUAL LAYER
Sound: HIGH DEFINITION ON-BOARD 7.1 AUDIO
Hopefully... this will be able to run it on full.

Was just talking to Evo about the same thing on MSN. It's so much easier.
I'd double the amount of RAM there if you can afford it. Just to be sure. 2GB isn't that much these days, it's enough, but you know, this is GTAIV.Might steal a gig of RAM from my current PC so it makes 3GB... lol
Lol!
I second that. When I upgrade I'm gonna steall a gig of RAM from my old PC, put it in the new and voilà.
I'm definetly getting GTA IV, even though my computer will be barely able to play it.
I may get 2 more gigs of ram, So by November I'll be having 2.6C2D, 4gigs of Ram, one 8800Gt 1Gig. Don't think I'll be having Vista though! Hope its Xp friendly!
Not bad, not bad at all.
Is it going to be DX10 only?Or it will support DX9 too?
If DX10 only then I better get new graphics card soon.
And Vista. The only reason I'm getting Vista on mine is to seduce DX10.
Chris, I might just get an extra 2GB RAM from eBay if the game doesn't run smoothly with 2GB.
So I bought that 360 for nothing?>.>
<.<
I'd much rather have it on PC. Especially for moar multiplayer!
Hey, I'm on Xbox Live. That's gotta count for something. No?
Oh man. Can you imagine the amount of twats we're gonna get on here posting crap like "why duz GTA4 run so slow on my PC plz halp". Fucking kids on their parents computers...Probably gonna need to employ some new moderators here!
I'm good at telling people they're idiots.
*ejaculates*So... so happy right now ....
Wow, that kinda reminds me of when TM (I think) posted some pics of some hot piece of ass. That mess was a bitch to clean up! Anyway, I wonder what extras the multiplayer will have. It's not gonna make me re-buy the game and upgrade my POS PC, but I'm still curious.

You may well be but there's more to being a moderator than just the ability to tell people off.
This made my day! Well we all new this was inevitable, but now thats its confirmed its time to start to prepare. Lucky for me I already have a
Vista! Although I'm going be busy has hell this fall, it won't prevent me from playing it on my PC. And shit 0 on my playstation was certainly
worth it!
hehe coooll. i knew this was finally gonna happen
and newly expanded multiplayer just for the PC
take that console fanboys! jks
so GTA Don you are gonna get that pc? cool.
as for me, i'l probably need a new pc as well this one can run san andreas 800x600 full and not much more. damn laptop graphics!
Nice... Now that's an epic win for R*, and solved the problem of irate fans demanding the PC release of IV.
WOOT!Finally GTA IV is being released for PC
I gotta get this game!
What's the requirements?
And I'm also waiting for that, Ice... Any more and we'll start modding it; an early proof-of-concept mod for the 360 version (although this isn't encouraged due to legal reasons) has already been done in the GTA Forums, you know...
After mocking from the console fan club The news bring some relief.. just can't wait till November
Hmm, I've been thinking about GTA IV specs. I believe they'll be the same as Boiling Point (or a bit more), because, I mean Boiling Point has almost the same graphic level as GTA IV and it works on my crappy pc in High Settings.
What do you think?
Here's where R* gets the epic win. Release the PC version compatible to SA specs & have an upgrade code for better
graphics you can redeem when you register your copy of GTA4.
People can play the games on the machines they have now, those w/ better machines can instantly upgrade.
Everybody wins. (Computer companies don't count on this one as most people won't buy a new computer just for 1 game.
^ if only
i dont think they'll do this
i think (total opinion) that if your computer is on par with the minimums here then you'l be able to play gta4. obviously if you are just meeting the bare minimums then you wont be able to have high res or high graphics etc.
You would be surprised .. hehe.. Of course it depends on specs, but just take a look in the past... honestly, how many people upgraded because of crysis?? And it's not only GTA4 coming out this fall... take Fallout3 for example... Mafia2
Yeah, right, but at least we got something to talk about until it hits the stores...
yay! w00t!
Anyone thinking of MODing a game like this is mentally sick in the head . so unless the game has a few glithes the only mods i would download would be patches(fix)
Well thats my opinion untill it kinda gets abit old, then i might think of car mods (if there is any)
I'm probably going to get a HD 4870 now, heard it's the best card on the market right now.
It'll be shit expensive atm. Plus, plain shit. Alot of cards now are having pre-driver crapness. (low performance, artifacts, software bugs, incompatibility) Wait until the card's been out a while.

How about the 4850? I hear that the 4850 is the best budget card out right now, and it's faster than the 9800 GTX in some cases. Money isn't a problem for me right now, just perfomance and stability.
Hey Don,
I'm kinda into HW and from what I read and know from my own experience best card for the money is still 8800GT (GTS). Do not compare nvidia 9 series for it is nothing more than g92core cards which means 9 series are crap... 8 series with new boxing and names... the most powerful 9 series card is GX2 but when you have 2 8800GT's in SLI they will outperform it.. 4870 is a good card though as mentioned before... there is still catalyst issue and the card is not overclockable (for now).. and if money is not a problem go for GTX280
9 Series aren't really any different to the 8 series. An 8800 would probably, misleadingly so, outperform a 9600 (it'd have to be 8800GT and 9600GT, for example.), but that doesn't stop the 9600 being a good card. The lower level 9 series are astonishingly cheap, too, but will still haul a steady framerate on max in most games (i get a constant 50 something in COD4, max, at 1680x1050).
The point i also want to make is you don't NEED a 9800GTX. Unless you're planning to run a 40" plasma screen or some balls like that then there simply is NO NEED.
My advice: The 8800 is still the definitive card on the market, getting cheap now, And you won't need anything more unless you plan to go past a 26 or something + inch screen.
I agree... and I didn't say 9 series are bad cards... I only think that it is a crap from nVidia's side to sell same product in different package for a higher price... finally: 8800GT (GTS) is the way to go...
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-g...-card,1987.html
8800GT costs now around 0 where Radeon 4870 costs 0 - which means for almost same money you can get 8800GT SLI!!! and this in some cases outperforms GTX280!!!!
DeAtH, read some articles, 8800gt has better or equal performance than 9600 google 8800GT vs 9600GT, you'll find some interesting debates about this topic...
I just want to know whether my laptop can play GTA 4 on medium details or not, so far i have played the following games on my laptop:-

In any case, the 9600 is cheaper.
But yeah, Fahran, i think you'll be able to run IV nicely. Medium probably, maybe a bit more.
Ko0L , Cant wait for GTA 4
lol guys the 8800 GT for 0!?!. I would so own that card by now, unfortunately where I live is 0-0 ( overclocked ) , and these are the lowest prices, went to other stores, in there it's almost 0.
When do you guys think R* will release the official system requirements? It should happen before the release of the game right? We must know ASAP.
How many people said it wouldn't come to PC? Hurr...
Also since it's coming on Steam it will be easily accessible, but hopefully we can pre-load content like Valve does. It's also looking to be released around the same time Saints Row 2 is for all three platforms (though I think they are bluffing about the PC version), so it's going to be another good year for games.
Where does it say it's coming out on Steam? I'm not doubting it but did it say that somewhere?
I asked this question to R* when I was in New York (about IV being released on Steam). I may have mentioned this in the TGTAP feature article but I'm not sure so I'll say it again here.
The response I got was along the lines of "well I'm not sure, but seeing as how we've got the whole series now on Steam it's likely we will release GTA IV that way too".
Only thing is we have no idea if they'll immediately release it this way or perhaps wait a couple of weeks/months? Wouldn't have thought they would because there's no point - just a possibility I suppose.
@Gycu: They're usually "leaked" out. SA was anyway because we were the first site to get hold of them (yay first for once!) and they turned out to be legit. I'll have a quick look to see when that was in relation to the release date.
EDIT: Whenever websites receive preview copies of the game. Which I'm guessing is gonna be in the next couple of months...
I think there should be a Bioshock style release.
Steam account holders could download, register the game, and it would be unlocked the very minute the game is officially released. Also would be win for Eurofags, not having to wait the 3 extra days.
Do it R*
Am I the only who doesn't really adore Steam?
I love Steam because I don't need to insert the CD, but on the other hand I just like having the box of the game on the shelf. Somehow..
Other then that, it sometimes just won't start up my game. I'll be waiting and waiting and waiting.. but nothing will hapen. That's like once every 5 times, which is just to often actually. Though it's better now then it used to be, it still has quite some problems here and there.
Yeah, i find it won't start a few of my games, but as a way to chat ingame, and buy exclusive games, you couldn't ask for more.
I'll undoubtedly buy it off the shelf, going in on Tuesday to pre-order, and my Bro's picking it up come November.
My DL speed is shit inconsistent, so by the time it's DL'd, i could have made my way to the store and back, with solely the use of wind power.
As long as you use a secure, unique password for your account and don't fall for this 'Vac technician' and 'We need your pass for betas' crap, your account is perfectly safe.
Steam is convenient, but it's a steaming pile of shit usually(Shitty steam overlay, myspace Jr. community, lots of account stealers). If GTA4 is available on steam, I'd get it on steam.
HURR DURR
Also the overlay and community are both optional, you can disable the overlay and turn off friends if you don't like it.
Oh and since it's also going to be using Games for Windows Live you can use your Xbox Live Gold account with it which potentially means the downloadable content will be on PC as well. (It is a Microsoft platform as well, after all)

Exactly! Steam is very convienent but I just love having a box case. Same goes with music on my iPod, I need to see the album cover when I play my iPod. A.K.A. I buy off of iTunes.
I'm not retarded (However retarded my name implies! ) enough to lose my account, but thousands of people are.
I like friends, but I liked the old friend's list much better. All it was, was when you're in a game, press escape, and click the "Freinds" button. Steam has done the same thing with the overlay, just made it a hell of a lot laggier. Is there a way to turn the overlay off and use the old friend's list? I can't seem to find a setting to do so.
I am planning to buy a pc for gta IV
Processor: Intel C2D 8500 (3.16 GHz)
Motherboard: ASUS P5Q PRO
RAM: Transcend 4GB DDR2(800MHZ)
HDD : Seagate 500 GB
GFX Card: ATI Radeon HD 4850 512 MB
Monitor : Viewsonic 19"
Speakers : Altec Lansing 5.1
Is this configuration enough to run GTA IV at highest settings?
Yeah of course you can. I would also recommend Corsair for RAM but it's not necessary.
Would all of you wondering whether or not your PC will run GTA IV well please now use this dedicated topic as it would be a lot more sensible to keep it all in one place. Thanks.
You can continue normal discussion of the PC announcement here of course

im seeing alot about "steam"?, wtf?
Any word yet on specs?
I don't think so, if Rockstar announces them, then it's most likely that they appear on the official site like previous GTA's.
Nah, they'll probably come when the gaming sites (IGN etc.) get to preview the game.
Minimum:
Operating system: Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Higher
CPU: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E4500 / AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 4400+

Operating system: Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1 or Higher
CPU: AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 5000+ / Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E8190
Video card: ATI Radeon™ HD 3650 / NVIDIA® GeForce 8600GT with 256MB VRAM or higher
Memory: 2GB
16X speed DVD-ROM
or
Windows 2000/XP/Vista
Intel Core2Duo E4600 / AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+
1GB of RAM (Windows 2000/XP)/2GB of RAM (Windows Vista)
nVidia 8xxx series/ATi 28xx/38xx series
They're not real, just my guess and Chris82 for the second one. Mine are really specific, but Chris82's are probably really closer.
What about HDD Space?
Just skimmed through another topic that has predicted specs, but thanks for taking a minute.
So it looks like I need a better chip & video, I was planning on an upgrade anyway. After playing the X360 version I
would guess the HD requirement would be a little bigger than SA. Smaller map but more high res textures & better
models. I would guess 5-8 gig depending on how much you install. SA requires 3.6 for minimum install.
My birthday is on the 2nd (November) so I'm getting a new PC for mine.CASE: Sigma Gaming Orca Case

Hopefully... this will be able to run it on full.
Your new computer spec is really fantastic....
Thanks, but I actually changed my choice now.
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor @ 3GHz CPU
Corsair 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 RAM
Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit
Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 512MB PCI-Express
Logitech MX518 Wired Optical Gaming Mouse
Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard
Right under £500, buying the parts from Newegg.
Logitech g-15 = waste of money.
You get a screen that tells you server info? you don't need that shit. Stick with a g11, IMO.
Apart from asking what mobo you're going to get?
You'll need one with AM2 (possibly am2+) platform, and crossfire support.
ASUS motherboards are fine, also DON'T GET A G11 IF YOU THINK THE G15 ONLY DISPLAYS SERVER INFO, it's a piece of shit, you realize the G15's screen can also tell you what song is playing in Winamp/iTunes/whatever, let you see IMs/chats/Ventrilo/whatnot as well.

Most of us, though, have ears and know which song's playing anyway. Plus you only need the IM features if you're in a game, in which case you'd use xfire/steam... if you weren't ingame you just llok at your screen.

Maybe some people download ungodly amounts of music and wouldn't know what song is playing...in any case it's nice to see it. And by IM features I meant real IM...as in AIM/MSN/Yahoo/etc....and who the fuck still uses Xfire lol?
Meh, just don't tend to fall for gimicky things (well, yeah i do) but
Lol, i haven't used xfire in ages, last time i did was made an account to speak to a friend once while kicked his ass at AOE III online.
Don, ASUS mobos are fine or lets just say - well done... but I would go for Intel platform (used to be AMD positive guy, but no longer) AMD just can't catch up (sadly) with latest technology... on the other hand, AM2 socket was here for quite some time now... only god knows how much longer will it stay (meaning - scarce chance of future upgrade) and this also applies LGA775, it is also somewhere at the end of it's existence... For a keyboard I'd go for Razer G11 & G15 are huge!! And one last question - what OS are you planning to use? If it's 32-bit then there is no use of 4GB Ram maybe go for 2GB. It won't save you much money but you can always upgrade... And for Ram once more... check your usage of mem when using your comp. even when playing games it hardly reaches 1,5GB (and that's Crysis) so I believe there is no use for 4GB just yet.
I know telling you 2GB is enough when I - myself have 4 might look strange ) but I use MS Server 2008 64-bit with no pagefile and got few VM's running on it... for general purpose and gaming 2 is more than enough...
I find Intel too expensive. It's not like I'm an AMD fanboy, but AMD processors seem to be very stable for me. Although I may upgrade my rig to a Intel Nehalem or AMD Shanghai in the future. I'll be using Vista Home Premium 64-bit--32-bit is okay, but I just want to take full advantage of my RAM.

Actually on DX10 with maximum sound and texture settings, Crysis can easily use 3GB of RAM if it's made available.
@chris: I can hardly imagine those settings on above mentioned 4850
Don, some good intel's aren't that expensive.. (freedom of choice!)
I hope it works on a P4 and a GeForce 6600.....
Does yours have pixel shader? My GeForce card on this old machine doesn't and it seems everything I look at in the stores these days requires pixel shader... I either have to find a new card or stop buying new games. I know it's a conspiracy to sell new high end graphics cards. They could just have the option to shut some features down in the software. I really don't care what shade my pixels are!!
JAB
Pixel Shaders are a technology that makes the game pixels better, a.k.a better video quality.
I would choose the option to buy a new card.
Logitech g-15 = waste of money. You get a screen that tells you server info? you don't need that shit. Stick with a g11, IMO.
I have to agree. I think the screen would be a waste.
I cant agree on the G11 though. It's fucking useless, the G keys are shit. If you want a good keyboard with similar features as the G keyboards(without the barely programmable waste-of-space G keys): http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/keyboard...71&cl=us,en
Thats a good keyboard if you can get used to the wave.
Trust me, you wont use the G keys for binding, or atleast in games you wont.
True that. I'd use it for Photoshop commands. That other keyboard is simply hideous, but i suppose it's nice to use, hand position and stuff.
Back on topic now. I was thinking y'day that there should be a special edition for us PC users. Suppose you could always buy the 360 version, sell off the game and buy the PC vers. with it. Only 25GBP on Play, which absolutely kicks ass. PC games are so much cheaper than consoles. I think developers feel sorry for us having to upgrade the whole time.
I did say back on topic, but since you're determined to doubt my likes / dislikes in keyboards, here.
My Saitek Eclipse...Quite simply one of the best looking keyboards there is. Now shut up and get on topic like i said, or have a warning come your way.
Uh, I've got a G15 and it's totally worth it.
I use the screen a lot, but not for games actually.. But I love the keyboard. Perfect keys and I really wouldn't want to do without that backlight. Also, the backlight is done very neat. Very good buy IMO (got it for 70 EUR).
Edit: Oh, that's the G15 V2 I'm talking about. G15 V1 looked rather ugly IMO...
V2:
About the 4850: Though it is indeed a card with a midrange price point, it has performance exceeding that of the 8800 GTX and even slightly over that of the Ultra (not in all games, due to the mem interface of the G80 based cards, but usually they are).
Actually on DX10 with maximum sound and texture settings, Crysis can easily use 3GB of RAM if it's made available.
Crysis max usage is 'just' 1300 mb. Vista pre-loads lots of stuff to make everything run a bit faster when you need it. Mem usage will show to be 3GB, but you're probably just using 2 GB if you subtract all that preloaded stuff.
Warhead apparently uses 2100 though, so that's going to really be a memory hog. Glad I didn't go for 2 in the end...
